Tulip Field Photoshootnear Amsterdam

My tulip photoshoots run from early April to mid-May. Bloom shifts a few days each year with the weather, so here’s my usual calendar:

• 1–13 April: daffodils and hyacinths. Tulips aren’t open yet.
• 14–18 April: the first tulip fields are blooming.
• 18 April – 5 May: full bloom the best time.
• 6–12 May: farmers cut most fields, but we can still shoot at tulip gardens or Keukenhof.

When should I book?

Most tulip clients book between October and February. Late April is the most popular time and fills up first, so the earlier you send me your dates, the better.

Not travelling during the bloom?

No problem — there are great alternatives:

• Keukenhof: open from 18 March to 9 May 2027. March has fewer tulips in bloom, and by May some are worn by visitors.
• Tulip gardens: I recommend my favourite ones each season.

The most colourful fields are in the Lisse area (the Bollenstreek), about 40 minutes from Amsterdam. I take you to the spots that look best that week.

The tulip fields give you endless rows of colour and more privacy. Keukenhof is a designed garden with many flower varieties but more people. You can also combine both in one of my packages.

I guide your shoot in English, Spanish, French or Dutch. 

I visit the fields daily throughout tulip season to check the blooms and choose the best locations for your date. My photoshoots take place in beautiful tulip gardens and tulip-themed parks by default. Private production fields may also be possible upon request, depending on bloom conditions and availability, which can only be confirmed a few days in advance.

In private tulip production fields, it’s usually just us, with no crowds or other visitors around.

In tulip gardens and tulip-themed parks, other visitors may be present, especially during busy periods. That’s why I highly recommend an early morning shoot at 9:00, when there are usually fewer people around and we have a better chance of capturing beautiful photos with fewer distractions in the background.

I tailor each experience to your preferences, schedule and the best locations in bloom. Choose between two ways to explore the tulip fields.

By car

Enjoy more flexibility to explore different locations. Choose the arrangement that works best for you:

• Option 1: Private car and driver. I arrange the car and driver and guide you to the best locations. You simply relax and enjoy the experience.

• Option 2: Your own or rental car. I meet you at your hotel or home, and you follow my route in your own car or rental.

• Option 3: Meet me at the location. If you have your own transport, we meet directly at a tulip garden or tulip-themed park in the Bollenstreek.

Travelling by car gives us more flexibility to explore different locations. We can visit beautiful tulip gardens and themed parks with photogenic props, such as windmills—especially lovely for families. Private tulip production fields are usually located in North Holland, and may also be an option depending on your date, the blooms and field availability.

By bike

The Dutch way! This is how my tulip photoshoots began in 2019. Bike photoshoots are available exclusively in the Bollenstreek area. We cycle through the flat Dutch countryside and stop at a beautiful tulip-themed park for your photoshoot. Comfortable bikes are available from local rental shops. Keep in mind that cycling against the wind can be a workout, so a moderate fitness level is recommended.

What’s included, and what costs extra?

Not included in the photoshoot price

Transport, bike rental and tulip garden entrance tickets are charged separately. After booking, I’ll send you the available options and costs so you can choose what works best for you.

• Rental car with me: €150 for up to 3 seats, €250 for up to 5 seats, or €280 for up to 7 seats. Includes hotel pick-up and drop-off in Amsterdam, fuel, insurance and a customised route. Drop-off at Keukenhof is also possible.

• Your own car: You simply need to keep a seat free for me and, occasionally, a photography assistant who may capture behind-the-scenes clips on a mobile phone.

• Rental bike: €12.50 per person.

• Tulip garden entrance: Approximately €10–12 per person.

Optional extras

All prices exclude VAT.

• Extra person: €70 if they’re not included in your package, or €50 if they join the tour but aren’t photographed. If not paid at booking, I’ll send you a payment link after the shoot.

• Extra photos: €26 per image, including careful retouching of details such as ropes and a few people in the background. Very crowded backgrounds may not be removable without compromising the natural look of your photos.

• Extra time: €75 per additional 30 minutes or €150 per hour.

• Weekend sessions: Available on request for an additional €75. I rarely shoot on public holidays.

• Priority retouching: €150 for delivery within 3 working days. Please ask before booking.

• Privacy protection: €60. Your photos will never be shared online or used for marketing.

Sunset photoshoots

Sunset sessions are available on request and must be booked in advance. Due to the limited availability during tulip season, they cost an additional €80 (excluding VAT). April weather can be cloudy, so a golden sunset cannot be guaranteed—but when the conditions are right, the results can be magical.

Soft, solid colours such as white, cream, pastels, light blue, yellow and pink look beautiful against the vibrant tulips. Flowy dresses and comfortable shoes are perfect for moving freely and enjoying your time among the flowers.

After booking, you’ll get access to your client portal, filled with helpful resources, including a detailed styling guide with colour recommendations, outfit ideas, fabric textures and inspiring photo examples for solo travellers, couples, families and groups of friends. You’ll also find tips on coordinating everyone’s outfits so your photos look beautifully put together.

Don’t worry, I keep a close eye on the weather! I start monitoring the forecast a week in advance and check it again in the days leading up to your shoot, including the day before and the morning of your session.
