Description
From the last week of March to mid-April, you’ll experience beautiful seasonal blooms including crocuses, daffodils, narcissus, hyacinths, and early tulip varieties.
For tulip gardens in full bloom, the best time is mid-April to the first week of May. Even in the final days of the season, the gardens remain photogenic — although some tulips may have faded or been trimmed.
Keukenhof is like our second home during tulip season — we visit regularly and monitor which gardens are at their peak. We create a customised route based on current bloom conditions to ensure your photoshoot is efficient, time-saving, and focused on the most beautiful locations.
During the session, Sandra also shares insights about tulips and Dutch culture, making the experience relaxed, fun, and personal.
What Is the Best Time for a Keukenhof Photoshoot?
To capture the most beautiful natural light — especially golden hour glow — and to avoid large crowds, we highly recommend booking one of our two best time slots:
✔ Early Morning Session – 08:00 AM
Starting right after Keukenhof opens, the gardens are still calm with minimal visitors. This allows us to capture clean photos with beautiful soft morning light and fewer people in the background.
✔ Sunset Session – Around 17:00
This time slot is ideal for golden hour lighting and fewer crowds as many visitors start leaving before closing at 19:00. It creates warm, dreamy images with a more private atmosphere.
✘ Afternoon Sessions
While we do accommodate afternoon bookings, we recommend avoiding peak afternoon hours — especially between 10:30 AM and 16:00 PM during high season (mid-April to the first week of May) — as the gardens can become significantly crowded. For surprise proposals, we highly recommend avoiding afternoon sessions — as the gardens can become crowded and the experience may feel more stressful for the person proposing.
Outside peak season, visitor traffic typically increases around 12:00 PM.
When there are many people in the background, extensive professional retouching may not always be possible while maintaining natural and realistic results.
