Here are some answers to questions that I am often asked as a professional photographer.

Conditions of booking

What is the process for making a booking?

How far in advance should I book you?

I recommend that you book me at least 1-2 months prior to when you think you will need the photographs, in order to avoid disappointment.

However, if you have a tight deadline or need a last minute photoshoot, please do not hesitate to send me an email so I can see if I can squeeze you into my schedule.

Can you take a last minute booking?

I may still have a couple of spots available if my agenda permits, so please contact me as soon as possible so we can schedule a date and time for our photoshoot.

Do you shoot on weekends?

On weekends, I rarely photograph so that I have a good work-life balance, can reset, and of course, give my best on each shoot. If you are unable to make it during the week, I am happy to shoot on the weekend.

Occasionally, I am requested to photograph events, commercial shoots, or for clients not available during the week. Generally, I am available on Saturdays or Sundays when it is convenient for the client, but I recommend shooting early in the morning because depending on the location, there may be more people around.

The "Weekend Fee" is calculated according to the shooting hours included in the package. After that, I will add the weekend fee to the package. For weekend shooting, an additional 50% fee per hour will be charged:

  • €32.5 for each additional 30 minutes of shooting (excl. VAT).
  • €65 for each additional 1 hour of shooting (excl. VAT).

Do you charge travel costs?

  • Extra fees may apply outside Amsterdam, Utrecht, and Hilversum.
  • Outside the Netherlands - to be determined.

Can my photos not be featured?

The resulting photos may be featured offline and online to expand my business, attract clients, or enhance my blog. It is my policy to respect the privacy of my customers and will not use, or distribute their images without their consent.

Don't want the photos to be featured?

If you do not wish to be featured, there is an additional charge of €50 (excl. VAT).

Follow-up & Retouching

Can I select my favorite photos?

Definitely, you can choose your favorite photos from the proofs. The number of photographs for selection will be determined by the photoshoot and package that you have booked.

Please remember that duplicate photos, the outtakes of blurry images, eyes closed, hair in the face, unflattering poses or facial expressions are eliminated after careful consideration before your photo proof selection process. This will save you considerable time while selecting your favorite photos. The photo proofs are not the final creative product, but they provide clients with a representative view of the images before they are retouched.

Approximately 2-3 business days following the photoshoot, photo proofs are delivered and uploaded on a password-protected gallery:
 
  • With a low resolution
  • Without any retouching
  • With a watermark in the center (protects the photos from infringements and unauthorized use). 

 

After the client selects his or her favorite images from the proofs, the photographer will retouch and artistically edit the final images. The real magic happens during retouching! Retouched photos are delivered at the highest quality, size and without any watermarks. 

Do you provide all the photos taken or RAW files?

Unfortunately, this is not possible. You will receive the number of total images that are included in your photoshoot and in the package you have booked. However, additional photos may be purchased if desired.

+ A client will not receive RAW files or photos that have not been retouched as they do not reflect the photographer's portfolio style. You are hiring me because you trust my work and like the way I photograph and retouch. As an artist, I would not have completed my work if I delivered photos without retouching. In order to make the photos look the best, I deliver them retouched. I greatly appreciate your understanding.

+ The final photographs will be delivered with color correction and retouching at the highest size and quality without watermarks.

Can I purchase additional photos?

Absolutely! If desired, additional photos may be purchased. Listed below is the cost per image, based on the type of photography booked:

  • Portraits, Basic Retouching €18 per photo (excl. VAT)

 

  • For Tinder, Professional Retouching €20 per photo (excl. VAT)

 

  • LinkedIn and Personal Branding, Professional Retouching. It is possible that the cost per photo may vary depending on the number of employees and the number of photos purchased, the discounts may be provided as more people participate in the shoot and more photos are purchased. In order to calculate the total quote for the photoshoot and photos, the cost per image will be discussed beforehand. The cost per photo will also show up on the invoice and contract.

 

  • Boudoir, High-End Retouching €35 per photo (excl. VAT)

 

  • Pricing for Commercial and Fashion Photography have High-end Retouching, the prices per photo may vary depending on factors such as the type of project, the final images, the intended usage, brand exposure, among others. By filling out this Briefing Questionnaire, you can get the total cost per campaign or project.

What is the turnaround time?

In the high season, this process could take longer. In some cases, delays may occur depending on my schedule, but I will notify you whenever there is a delay. My normal turnaround time varies depending on what type of photoshoot I am doing:

  • Portrait photos will be available in approximately 7-14 days.
  • Boudoir photos will be available in approximately 7-14 days.
  • Commercial and Fashion photos will be available in approximately 12-18 days.

 

Do you require the photos sooner?

If you need a rush on your images, please let us know in advance. A fee will apply to rushed images (this option may not be available if we are fully booked in that month). 

An additional fee will be charged for a "Rush Fee" on top of the photoshoot:

  • Portrait photos, 4 days turnaround, €80 (excl. VAT) 
  • Boudoir photos, 4 days turnaround, €160 (excl. VAT) 
  • For Commercial and Fashion photos with a turnaround time of 6 days, please submit your request for a quote.

What types of retouching do you provide?

Each of your chosen images is lovingly hand-retouched; first processed from its Raw file. I use Lightroom for color correction and Photoshop to retouch my photographs. My retouching style is bright, colorful, and natural. 

Here I have explained the differences between Basic, Professional, and High-End photo retouching services in order to make it clear what is involved in each service:

  • Basic Photo Retouching. Based on its name, It involves the removal of blemishes such as scars, zits, pimples, wrinkles, or acne from photographs. The skin is also smoothed and the teeth are whitened. Small objects, traffic signals, and people in the background are also removed to minimize distractions. I do Basic Photo Retouching for Portrait photos.

 

  • Professional Retouching. It's an upgrade from basic retouching. The same blemish removal, skin smoothing, teeth whitening, color correction I do for basic photo retouching, but with added enhancements like background enhancement, solid color replacement, extending the background if needed, and removing distracting small objects in the background. If the client requests it, we can also remove stray hair from the subjects' faces as well as contour their faces. I provide  Professional Retouching for Tinder, LinkedIn, and Personal Branding photos.

 

  • High-End Retouching. This retouching service can make your photos truly shine! Although it takes a lot more time than basic and professional retouching. High-end photo retouching requires much time because it addresses all the fine details such as removing wrinkles, hair, or stains from clothes, adjusting the proportions of the image, and even composing the perfect image from multiple images. It is possible to retouch facial features or body reshaping depending on the client's request. I perform High-End Retouching for Boudoir, Commercial & Fashion photos.

Photoshoot Information

Can you recommend a make-up & hairstylist?

Absolutely! I often work with professional make-up and hair stylists in The Netherlands when shooting Portraits, Boudoirs, Commercial and Fashion Photography. As a courtesy to my clients who have booked with me, I have prepared a pdf booklet with professional make-up & hairstylists who may be selected based on portfolio, budget, etc. If you would like a copy of my pdf booklet of make-up and hairstylists, please contact me.

Can I use these photos for my business?

  • Portrait photos can only be used for your personal social media and private use. They cannot be used to promote your business, product, YouTube Channel, any social media or web page, or for any form of marketing. For an additional fee that I can calculate based on the time of usage and the location at which the images will be used, you can purchase the Commercial Copyrights of the photos. Those who violate the copyrights will incur an additional charge. Please, check out my Personal Branding Photography or LinkedIn Photoshoots because they may be a better fit for your needs.

 

  • Boudoir, Commercial, and Fashion photos can be utilized to promote your business or brand at no additional cost.

Which clothing should I wear?

Once a photoshoot has been booked, all clothing advice and recommendations will be provided.

Depending on the season, I can also advise you on the best props and colors. I am happy to answer any questions you may have in the lead-up to your photoshoot. Feel free to contact me at any time.

Will I receive any tips and guidance?

I have a lot of tricks to make you look confident and natural in your photos, and I love coaching my clients during their photoshoot. If you are having a good time, you will appear to be more beautiful than you ever imagined possible!

Is it possible to upgrade my package?

Definitely! It is possible to upgrade packages up until the day of the photo session. If this is the case, please contact me as soon as possible. Downgrading of packages is not possible.

Is it possible to extend the shoot?

During my photoshoots, it seems like time flies by! You can extend the duration of your photoshoot after the time is up if you wish.

However, multiple photoshoots are usually scheduled during the day. If you want to add more time to your photo session, it's highly recommended that you notify the photographer with time in advance.

  • The cost for 30 additional minutes is €65 (excl. VAT)
  • The cost for 1 additional hour is €130 (excl. VAT)
  • The cost for 2 additional hours is €260 (excl. VAT)

Can I get my photos printed professionally?

Once your photos are retouched, you will receive a link to download them via WeTransfer. You can also print your memories directly from your online private gallery.

Within your proof gallery, you will find the Client Shop, where you can purchase additional prints, products, creative gifts, and design your own photo book. 

Are you willing to travel for photo shoots?

Without a doubt! Despite living in Hilversum, I travel to Amsterdam for photoshoots every day, as well as other parts of the Netherlands. Being an avid globetrotter and world explorer, I absolutely enjoy traveling for photoshoots! Shoot me a message if you are interested in working with me in another city. I will offer suggestions of nearby locations and we can discuss the endless possibilities!

Is there a discount for returning clients?

Indeed! As a gesture of appreciation for supporting my small business, returning clients are eligible for discounts on a future photoshoot. Please inquire for further details.

Cancellation & Change Policy

What happens if the weather is unfavorable?

Weather forecasts will be verified three times: 6 days before the shoot, 1 day before, and the morning of the shoot. A photo session may be postponed if it is raining heavily, depending on the photographer's and client's availability. 

The full amount of the photo session will be refunded if the photo session cannot take place due to bad weather.​

What if I'm late to the shoot?

I kindly ask that you arrive on time, as I often have other photoshoots after yours and I must arrive on time for each of them.

- If you are 30 minutes late, your session will be discounted by 30 minutes.

- If you do not show up to the shoot, it will automatically result in cancellation, and the money will not be refunded.

Can I reschedule my shoot?

Reschedules of photo sessions can be made by clients within 24 hours after the booking is made or 14 days prior to the scheduled photoshoot.

In all other cases, a deposit of €65 (excl. VAT) is required to book the photoshoot and package for a new date and time.

How does the cancellation policy work?

If the cancellation is made within 24 hours of booking or up to 28 days before the photoshoot is scheduled to begin, the client will receive a full refund.

In all other instances, the full reimbursement is reduced by the deposit amount:

  • €130 (excl. VAT) for Portrait Photography
  • €180€ (excl. VAT) for Boudoir Photography
  • Commercial photography may differ according to the project and should be discussed as soon as possible.

Can I cancel if I have an emergency?

It is possible to receive a full refund if you have to cancel due to an unforeseen circumstance that is beyond your control. Check to see if your situation is listed and that you can provide the necessary documentation before canceling.

Documentation is required under the following circumstances:

+ An unexpected death or serious illness of a client, photographer, or close family member.

+ Physical damage or injury. The client will need to provide a doctor's statement. To get a full refund, the statement must be dated after the booking was confirmed. Our Extenuating Circumstances Policy doesn't cover pre-existing conditions that the customer knew about when they booked.

+ Natural disasters (including pandemics or epidemics) or severe weather affect the photoshoot.

+ Travel restrictions that are beyond the control of the client or photographer.

+ Requirements imposed by the government after the booking has been made. It includes jury duty, travel restrictions or disruptions, court appearances, and military deployment. It will be necessary for you to provide a copy of the official notice dated after the booking was confirmed, including the name of the person assuming the obligations.

Unexpected situations that may impact photoshoot participation will be carefully evaluated such as:

+ Acts of terrorism, civil unrest, security threat advisories, and changes in visa or passport requirements.

+ These circumstances do not require documentation, but each case will be reviewed to ensure that the client is directly affected.

Is it possible to cancel or reschedule?

The only way to cancel or reschedule a photoshoot is to send an e-mail on the contact form. Moreover, requests that don't come through e-mail don't have any rights or obligations.
