Here are some answers to questions that I am often asked as a professional photographer.

Conditions of booking

What is the process for making a booking?

The first step is to select your desired package, then go ahead to our calendar and select the date and time that works best for you. You can find all the information regarding the next steps and booking by clicking here.

Please don't worry if you cannot find your desired day or time. Send us a message and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

How far in advance should I book you?

I recommend that you book me at least 1-3 months prior to when you think you will need the photographs, in order to avoid disappointment.

However, if you have a tight deadline or need a last minute photoshoot, please do not hesitate to send me an email so I can see if I can squeeze you into my schedule.

Can you take a last minute booking?

I may still have a spot available if my agenda permits, so please contact me as soon as possible so we can schedule a date and time for our photoshoot.

Do you shoot on weekends or public holidays?

I normally do not shoot on public holidays but there may be some exceptions. Weekends are my days off so I can maintain a good work-life balance and give my best for each shoot. Occasionally, I am happy to accomodate clients who cannot make it during the week, such as for events, commercial shoots, or private clients.

I am available Saturday or Sunday when it works best for the client, but it is recommended shooting early in the morning because there may be more people around in some locations. The " Weekend fee" is already calculated in the calendar when choosing Saturday or Sunday.

Do you charge travel costs?

  • Extra fees may apply outside Amsterdam, Utrecht, and Hilversum.
  • Outside the Netherlands - to be determined.

Can my photos not be featured?

As the photographer, I hold the copyrights for these images, allowing me to showcase my work and attract new clients who resonate with my style. However, your privacy is paramount. It's my core policy to never use or distribute your photos without your explicit consent. Here's where your choice comes in:

Shining a Light on Your Story: If you're comfortable with it, occasionally featuring your photos helps me continue creating and attracting clients who appreciate my approach. This could involve showcasing them on my website, blog, social media, or even printed materials.

Don't want the photos to be featured?

Privacy Above All: If you prefer more discretion, I absolutely respect that. You have the option to opt out of having your photos featured for an additional fee of €60 (excluding VAT). The "Don't feature fee" ensures the photos remain exclusively for your personal use.

How long is the validity of a photoshoot?

The photoshoot is valid for half year from the date of purchase. This means that you have 6 months to schedule, conduct, and enjoy your photoshoot. If the photoshoot isn't completed within this period, your photoshoot will expire.If the photoshoot isn't completed within this period, your photoshoot package will expire. This means that you would no longer be able to utilise the photography services included in the package. 

Follow-up & Retouching

Can I select my favorite photos?

Definitely, you can choose your favorite photos from the proofs. The number of photographs for selection will be determined by the photoshoot and package that you have booked.

Please remember that duplicate photos, the outtakes of blurry images, eyes closed, hair in the face, unflattering poses or facial expressions are eliminated after careful consideration before your photo proof selection process. This will save you considerable time while selecting your favorite photos. The photo proofs are not the final creative product, but they provide clients with a representative view of the images before they are retouched.

Approximately 2-3 business days following the photoshoot, photo proofs are delivered and uploaded on a password-protected gallery:
 
  • With a low resolution
  • Without any retouching
  • With a watermark in the center (protects the photos from infringements and unauthorized use). 

 

After the client selects his or her favorite images from the proofs, the photographer will retouch and artistically edit the final images. The real magic happens during retouching! Retouched photos are delivered at the highest quality, size and without any watermarks. 

What is the deadline for selecting my final photos?

In most cases, clients select their photos within one week, however, we understand that traveling or working can make it difficult to pick the perfect photos right away. Upon delivering your private gallery, we allow you a one month window to select your photos. This gives you ample time to look over, contemplate, and make informed decisions about the photos you want to go forward with.

You will be notified of the deadline for selecting your photos. It is your responsibility to select them before the deadline passes. Due to our multiple projects, we cannot follow up via email, so if no photos are selected on that day, we will proceed to select and retouch our favourite photos and send them to you, this will signify that the project has been completed.

Do you provide all the photos taken or RAW files?

No, I do not provide unedited photos, raw files nor do I provide raw files of the photos you choose. I take pride in delivering a curated selection of beautifully edited photos that perfectly capture your memories. Each photo undergoes my signature style of color correction, light enhancement, and retouching, as showcased in my portfolio. This ensures a consistent and polished final product that reflects the high-quality outcome I strive for.

Why don’t you provide RAW files or unedited photos?

The unedited photos and RAW files do not reflect my portfolio style, and as an artist, delivering unretouched photos would mean my work is incomplete. You are hiring me because you trust my work and appreciate the way I photograph and retouch. To ensure the photos look their best, I only deliver retouched images. I greatly appreciate your understanding.

The final photographs will be delivered with professional color correction and retouching at the highest size and quality, without any watermarks.

Can I purchase additional photos?

Absolutely! If desired, additional photos may be purchased. Listed below is the cost per image, based on the type of photography booked:

  • Portraits, Basic Retouching 18€ per photo (excl. VAT)
  • For Tinder, LinkedIn and Personal Branding, Professional Retouching. Professional Retouching 28€ per photo (excl. VAT). For companies it is possible that the cost per photo may vary depending on the number of employees and the number of photos purchased, the discounts may be provided as more people participate in the shoot and more photos are purchased. In order to calculate the total quote for the photoshoot and photos, the cost per image will be discussed beforehand. The cost per photo will also show up on the invoice and contract.
  • Boudoir, High-End Retouching 35€ per photo (excl. VAT)
  • Pricing for Commercial and Fashion Photography have High-end Retouching, the prices per photo may vary depending on factors such as the type of project, the final images, the intended usage, brand exposure, among others. By filling out this Briefing Questionnaire, you can get the total cost per campaign or project.

What types of retouching do you provide?

Each of your chosen images is lovingly hand-retouched; first processed from its Raw file. We use Lightroom for color correction and Photoshop to retouch our photographs. Our retouching style is bright, colorful, and natural. Below we have explained the differences between the different photo retouching services:

  • Basic Photo Retouching. By its name, it involves quick and small retouching to remove small objects, traffic signals, and people in the background (If there are a lot of people in the background, we may not be able to remove them because the photo will not look real, avoid this by shooting in the early morning or following the locations and times we recommend). A basic photo retouching service is included in all portrait photos, such as Amsterdam daily and night shoots, proposals, engagements, maternity, Tulip Fields and Keukenhof photo sessions.

  • Although we encourage our clients to love themselves as they are, we are also happy to cover their needs when it comes to retouching when necessary. In the event that the client wants to have blemishes, spots or scars removed, skin smoothed, to reduce double chins or to slim down their body, it requires a more extensive amount of time for photo manipulation, so there is an additional charge of 10€ for retouching (excl. VAT). 

  • Professional Retouching. This retouching is an upgrade from our Basic Retouching. It includes blemish removal, skin smoothing, teeth whitening, color correction, background enhancement or background extension and removing distracting small objects in the background or people if needed. We can also remove stray hair from the subject's faces and contour their faces at no extra cost. Professional Retouching is included for Tinder, LinkedIn, and Personal Branding photos.

  • High-End Retouching. You can make your photos truly shine with this retouching service! However, it takes a lot more time than basic and professional retouching. In high-end photo retouching, many fine details are addressed, including removing wrinkles, hair, or stains from clothes, adjusting the proportions of the image, and even composing the perfect image from multiple images. High-End Retouching is included for Boudoir, Commercial & Fashion photos.

 

  • Additional retouching fees of €5 per photo (excl. VAT) are required for removing tattoos, scars, burns, or braces. This fee is not included in any of our retouching services.

Can I request specific edits on my photos?

Absolutely! I’m always happy to discuss specific editing requests for your chosen favorites. To ensure your vision is fulfilled without any surprises, it’s ideal to share any editing preferences before booking or at least before the retouching process begins.

What is the turnaround time?

In the high season, this process could take longer. In some cases, delays may occur depending on my schedule, but I will notify you whenever there is a delay. My normal turnaround time varies depending on what type of photoshoot I am doing:

  • Portrait photos will be available in approximately 7-10 days. Since it is peak season for Tulip Fields and Keukenhof sessions, photos will be available in approximately 14-21 days.
  • Boudoir photos will be available in approximately 7-10 days.
  • Commercial and Fashion photos will be available in approximately 12-21 days.

Can I book a rush fee for the photos?

If you need a rush on your images, please let us know in advance. An additional fee will apply to rushed images (this option may not be available if we are fully booked in that month). 

An additional fee will be charged for a "Rush Fee" on top of the photoshoot:

  • Portrait & Boudoir photos, 3 working days turnaround, 125€ (excl. VAT) 
  • For Commercial and Fashion photos with a turnaround time of 6 days, please submit your request for a quote.

Photoshoot Information

Can you recommend a make-up & hairstylist?

Absolutely! I often work with professional make-up and hair stylists in The Netherlands when shooting Portraits, Boudoirs, Commercial and Fashion Photography. As soon as the photoshoot has been booked, you'll be able to access your Client Portal, which contains the resources for your shoot as well as a pdf booklet with professional make-up and hairstylists. Artists featured in the pdf have been curated and selected in the last few years and budgets vary according to their experience and portfolio.

Can I use these photos for my business?

  • Portrait photos can only be used for your personal social media and private use. They cannot be used to promote your business, product, YouTube Channel, any social media or web page, or for any form of marketing. For an additional fee that I can calculate based on the time of usage and the location at which the images will be used, you can purchase the Commercial Copyrights of the photos. Those who violate the copyrights will incur an additional charge. Please, check out my Personal Branding Photography or LinkedIn Photoshoots because they may be a better fit for your needs.

 

  • Boudoir, Commercial, and Fashion photos can be utilized to promote your business or brand at no additional cost.

Which clothing should I wear?

When a photoshoot is booked, all clothing advice and recommendations will be provided on your Client Portal depending on the type of shoot. Depending on the season, I can also advise you on the best props and colours.

Will I receive any tips and guidance?

That's why you're booking a shoot with me, right? I have many tricks to make you look confident and natural in your photos, and I love coaching my clients during their photoshoots. If you are having a good time, you will appear morebeautiful than you ever imagined!

Is it possible to upgrade my package?

Definitely! We typically recommend finalising package upgrades at least two weeks in advance. However, based on availability, we may be able to accommodate requests for package upgrades closer to your photo session. Please note that we have more shoots during the day, so it's best to get in touch as early as possible if you're interested in upgrading. After the shoot is completed, package upgrades are not possible. A downgrading of a package is also not possible.

Is it possible to extend the shoot?

During my photoshoots, it seems like time flies by! You can extend the duration of your photoshoot after the time is up if you wish.

However, multiple photoshoots are usually scheduled during the day. If you want to add more time to your photo session, it's highly recommended that you notify the photographer with time in advance.

  • The cost for 30 additional minutes is 67,5€ (excl. VAT)
  • The cost for 1 additional hour is 135€ (excl. VAT)
  • The cost for 2 additional hours is 270€ (excl. VAT)

Can I get my photos printed professionally?

Once your photos are retouched, you will receive a link to download them via WeTransfer. You can also print your memories directly from your online private gallery.

You will find the Client Shop within the Private gallery where you will choose your favourite photos first. In the Client Shop you will be able to purchase additional prints, canvas, creative gifts, and design your own photo book. 

Are you willing to travel for photoshoots?

Without a doubt! Despite living in Hilversum, I travel to Amsterdam for photoshoots every day, as well as other parts of the Netherlands. Being an avid globetrotter and world explorer, I absolutely enjoy traveling for photoshoots! Send me a message if you are interested in working with me in another city. I will offer suggestions of nearby locations and we can discuss the endless possibilities!

Is there a discount for returning clients?

Indeed! As a gesture of appreciation for supporting my photography business, returning clients are eligible for discounts on a future photoshoot. Please inquire for further details.

Cancellation & Change Policy

What happens if the weather is unfavorable?

While we cannot always control the weather, we are committed to providing our clients with the best possible service. Weather forecasts will be verified three times: a week before the shoot, 1 day before, and the morning of the shoot. A photo session may be postponed if it is raining heavily, depending on the photographer's and client's availability.

However even if it rains, there's no need to cancel or reschedule your photoshoot! We have transparent umbrellas that will allow you to get unique and cinematic photos of Amsterdam, capturing the falling raindrops against Amsterdam's beautiful canals.

For locals

For clients living in The Netherlands, the photoshoot can be easily rescheduled to a day that works best for both parties.

For tourists

While we cannot always control the weather, we are committed to providing our clients with the best possible service. For tourists who are only here for a few days, we understand that bad weather can disrupt your plans. In the event of bad weather, we prioritise tourists clients with availability to rescheduling their photoshoots.

If your photoshoot cannot take place due to heavy rain or other unforeseen circumstances, we will refund 80% of the session fee. This refund reflects the time and resources we have already invested in planning and preparing for your photoshoot. We have spent hours emailing you and preparing all the resources you need for your shoot to ensure your experience is unforgettable. We hope you understand our policy and appreciate your flexibility in case of unforeseen events.

What if I'm late to the shoot?

I kindly ask that you arrive on time, as I often have other photoshoots after yours and I must arrive on time for each of them.

- If you are 30 minutes late, your session will be discounted by 30 minutes.

- If you do not show up to the shoot, it will automatically result in cancellation, and the money will not be refunded.

Can I reschedule my shoot?

Reschedules of photo sessions can be made by clients within 72 hours after the booking is made or 14 days prior to the scheduled photoshoot.

If rescheduling is requested by the client 13 or less days prior to the photoshoot, a payment of 65€ (excl. VAT) is required.

The only way to reschedule a photoshoot is to send an e-mail on the contact form. Moreover, requests that don't come through e-mail don't have any rights or obligations.

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel your shoot within 72 hours after your booking, you will receive a full refund. The policy does not apply to last-minute bookings made less than 14 days in advance of the photoshoot. 

  • The full reimbursement is reduced by a 50% deposit for Portrait Photography and Boudoir Photography, so a 50% refund is given.
  • As Commercial Photography is a very complex and time-consuming process, we require 70% of the project cost, so a 30% refund will be granted.

 

For Portrait and Boudoir Photography, in case of an unforeseen event beyond the photographer's control, the client has the option of rescheduling the shoot without any additional cost, or if that cannot be done, they will receive a full refund and a list of other photographers who may be able to cover the shoot. In the case of Commercial Photography, another date will be scheduled.
